Mr Stewart Rocks!
Part II Of "Mr. Stewart Rocks"Well Hello Luvs,
I'm so sorry it's been awhile since I've been here. I guess sometimes life just gets away with you and this time it has with me! I apologize because if someone doesn't write then how is a person to get people to read what you write??
Well, I am ready for Summer because my husband is a teacher and he is now officially off for Summer break until September1st! Yayyyy! The other way that assures me that Summer is here for awhile again is that the Summer concerts in the park have begun in Plymouth, Mi. It's one town over from our town of Canton, MI. Every week on Friday night at 7 pm, a band comes to the park and they play for the people until about 9pm! I love going there and it's free besides! Usually there are people that we know sitting around there and sometimes everyone chit chats and other times Craig and I just sit in our lawn chairs (that we bring ourselves) & we get ice cream just at the corner across from the park. It's really a very nice and inexpensive evening!
This week was very exciting as I got to go to the school where my husband works and see the talent show which included many of the students from the elementary school AND at the end, the teacher's did a little skit too! It was leather jackets /sunglasses and a song by "Twisted Sister" and my husband was the very best! *If I do say so myself!!! LOL...Then I went around the block up to the school another time this week because they had their "end of the year" picnic and I painted some little nails for awhile. The kids are so cute! I thought it was pretty fun because there were about 4 lines for painting nails. Three of the lines went almost empty and my line was going strong !!! It's just kind of cute because the kid's love it when "Mrs Stewart" comes to do this stuff because I am "Mr. Stewart's wife, which makes me "cool"!! I had brought some nail polish remover in a little round tub; thinking it would be easier for the kids to get their own polish off before I start to do a new polish job. Well....I was mistaken.... not just one...but TWO little girls took the whole tub and turned it upside down while the remover was pouring out into the plastic box that I'd brought, which was full of nail polish bottles.
I got a bit flustered, while one other little girl in line told me exactly what to do about the spilled polish remover situation! She told me " Why don't you just turn the box upside down and put the remover back into it's bottle, so it won't get wasted?" OH MY GOSH...I couldn't believe how smart a 9 yr old can be! So, I told her that it was a very smart idea and that is exactly what I was going to do and it worked! What a cutie and a smarty too! These kids are just something else! I love going over there and getting the hugs and love from the children! Especially when I'm having a bad or sad day, they can really cheer you up! Oh ...and one little girl was so sweet and she'd known me from a couple of years ago when she had my husband as her 2nd grade teacher. She said to me "Mrs. Stewart...soooo.... how is your leg doing? Why do you still have to use that "cane"? I told her that she was so sweet to ask about me and that I had been in a car accident many years ago and hurt my back and lots of things and would need the cane for a long time most likely. She just seemed so genuine and caring. I've had adults that never have asked how I am dong after all of these years of seeing me with a cane, or motorized scooter etc. Oh...out of the mouth's of babes, huh?
Enough about pain and my cane. I have one more "fun" story for you this time around. Remember, I told you about the talent show and how my husband was a "rock star" that day at his elementary school? Well....the school had a little "fair" to try and raise money for some things that the student's need. The Principal approached the teachers asking them to volunteer for something at the school's fair last week. My husband, got "volunteered" for the 'dunk tank' that Friday night, last weekend!
Last week the temps in our town were in the 90's, very sunny and humid and hot. We were hoping for the same on Friday night..lol. Not a chance! When Friday came around it was cloudy and only about 62 degrees outside! No need to worry, right? They told us that there would be "warm water" in the tank so as to keep everyone warm and "toasty". We got to the school, ran into the principal and he had just gotten done with his shift in the dunk tank. He was jovial as usual and when I voiced my concerns for my husband going into the dunk tank after recently recovering from a cough etc.; he told us that there was no hot water because the hot water tank had broken that afternoon as they were filling the tank!! OH MY...I thought for sure Craig wouldn't go through with it! He's got to be the most dedicated teacher and employee! He went through with it and got dunked about 12-15 times and it was freezing cold water! The only saving grace was that he had a sweatshirt over himself and the air seemed warmer he said every time he got out of the cold water! You can see the video's I've put here on the blog; but it all ended well and he was just fine and still raised money for a good cause. I don't think he'll volunteer to do that again any time soon!!LOL...
One more thing I wanted to share to "bring you up to date" on things around here; is that Amy's African grey parrot has started to talk now! Yep...little "Tilly" (short for "Matilda")is starting to say words to us! Oh it's really delightful to hear her say words instead of just screeching all of the time! Amy had her video out and was taping her parrot and the bird just suddenly said "Hello Boo Boo"! Yep, she got her first words on tape!! We were /are so excited that it could possibly happen like that...what luck she has!! So it's been about a week since Tilly started saying "Hello Boo Boo", because that's what we say to her often. We are always saying "Hi Boo Boo", "Hello Boo Boo" , therefore it makes sense that those were her first words! She's only 8 months old and this seems pretty early for her to be talking; but she is a "smarty pants" for sure! This morning Amy was lying in her bed sound asleep and usually the bird sleeps when the cover is over her cage (she has a custom cover that has "Matilda" embroidered on it!; spoiled baby!). That has been the case so far with Tilly as well; that was until this morning. About 7:00 am she started saying "Boo Boo"..." Hi Boo Boo" (very quietly at first) ..then it was "Hello"..."Hello???"..."Hello Boo Boo"..."Boo Boo?" until Amy finally got up and took the cover off of the cage and she wanted out for some cuddles! She loves Amy so much! She will still bite sometimes but not nearly as much to Amy as to me or Craig or anyone else. Tilly will allow me to pick her up and that is ONLY and I mean "ONLY" if Amy isn't around or cannot do it. Somehow she knows and she "allows" me to carry her to get her to her destination, if Amy needs me to do it or if she's not available.
We are trying to now teach her "I Love You" , "Where's Mommy?" and in the mornings we are teaching her "it's time for coffee". I'll have to post a new video as she gets. better and better at it!
It's time to stop writing now and try to get a bit of sleep. I've not gotten much sleep lately. RSD does that to people who are afflicted with it. Insomnia is one of the unfortunate effects of the disease. I typically sleep about 3 to 4 broken hours per night; until I'm totally wiped out and then I may get one 6 hour night every week, if I'm lucky. It's really starting to show up in my eyes. They are getting puffy and a few more wrinkles here and there now. Except for when I do get a bit of sleep, then that all seems to get better looking. I really somehow need to try harder to get more sleep regardless of if it's a symptom of RSD or not. I just need more sleep!
For some reason my left shoulder has been burning more like crazy lately. I'm not sure if it's an RSD flare or something else is wrong in there? I've been keeping away from Dr's at all cost lately or for the past year or so. I am just so tired of it all. There are so many Dr's that are rude and totally ignorant of what 'RSD/CRPS' is about. You either get one that knows or one that doesn't at all. I've had both! I had an Orthopedic foot /ankle specialist take one look at my right foot just after I was first diagnosed by the surgeon who did the original foot surgery which started the whole "RSD" ball rolling. The Orthopedic Dr. walked in and said instantly "classic RSD"!! He gave me some info paperwork explaining what RSD is and what it means to have been diagnosed with it. Then he referred me to a pain specialist. I had been down that pain specialist "road" for years after the car accident and all of the pain and surgeries etc. I really never want to have to do that again.
Ok my dears...it's been great catching you up again. I've missed you all and though you won't have enjoyed the RSD info and/or the pain update. I'm sure you will have fun with : Craig the "Rock 'n Roller", "Craig in the dunk tank" and "Tilly says "Hi Boo Boo" videos. Enjoy the fun videos and I will be back again soon. It won't be so long between times now. I will try harder because I surely don't want to lose my buddies who read my blog!
Thanks for coming and being here and for reading my blog stories! Thank you for watching our bird video's too~ You're the best and hope to have you back again for a visit ! Now go and get your "cuppa tea" and read some more because this blog goes waaaay back! It's very interesting especially back at the beginning. Thanks again for stopping by....talk with you very soon again...
Love, Suzanne
